We encountered one "paparazzi" sighting while in L.A. – on trendy Robertson Blvd. (home of "The Ivy"). Although I didn’t recognize their victim, my daughter identified her to me as Shauna Sand, a former Playboy model and (ahem) actress.
Whatever her dubious claim to fame, it was very odd witnessing this "culture of celebrity" phenomenon happening before my very eyes – and actually made me feel rather uncomfortable to be among the curious onlookers. While I know there are those celebrities who court the press, and welcome any and all attention they can get, on this particular day, Ms. Sand (while dressed rather provocatively) appeared merely to be out shopping with her two young daughters – all the while being treated as though she were an attraction at the local zoo. Strange world we live in.
